Hands off Jacob Zuma!

Freddy Molotsi, News24 User

The deputy president of the ANC, Jacob Zuma, has been targeted by the so-called disciplined cadres of the ANC under the stewardship of Thabo Mbeki and Patrick Terror Lekota.

This offensive was perpetuated by the recent outcome of the provincial nominations where Zuma emerged victorious. Lekota has many at time referred to him as a dedicated and disciplined cadre of the ANC but his recent fight-back strategy wherein he attacked and injured the person of Jacob Zuma suggests the opposite of what Lekota has purported to be.

It is clear that the Mbeki clan, represented by yes men and women like Terror Lekota, Mavivi Mayakayaka-Manzini, Phumzile Mlambo-Nquka, disgraced Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, Naledi Pandor, Alec Erwin, Essop Pahad, Sydney Mufamadi and Mbazima Shilowa to name a few, will emerge from Limpopo bruised by the victory that Jacob Zuma will scoop there.

After thorough analysis of Thabo Mbeki's campaign trail led by its outspoken protagonist Terror Lekota, I have reasons to believe that the attack on the ANC deputy president and all cadres of the broad alliance structures represent a real threat to the attainment of the objectives of the National Democratic Revolution and the unity of the ANC and its alliance.

Part of a conspiracy

We must also be aware of the ideological dilution or confusion that constantly emanates from the realm of practical politics in which we operate.

As a progressive cadre of the ANC, I have therefore decided to call the attention of all progressive cadres to this development, not only out of a concern for Jacob Zuma, but also because I feel strongly that the leadership of the alliance partners must ensure that the method employed by Lekota and his lieutenant to raise their grievance must be publicly condemned.

I am beginning to suspect that Lekota is part of the political conspiracy led by the National Prosecuting Authority who are hard at work to ruin the political career of Jacob Zuma and silence his support. Lekota's attack on Jacob Zuma and his support characterise him as a sycophant - this has been demonstrated by his lack of knowledge about history and his lack of ability to lead and to sing which make him angry at those who are perfect at both.

Lekota's attack on Jacob Zuma signal the desperation on a leader who fell out of favour with the rank and file of the ANC due to his lack of consistency. Jacob Zuma is our organic intellectual; as such we will continue to value the contribution he made during the struggle for liberation of South African majority.

Unlike Terror Lekota, Jacob Zuma never confuses the immediate with the ultimate, because he never loses sight of the ultimate while grappling with the immediate.

We are moving to a point were we view Terror Lekota as the ideological, political and class enemy of the working class and poor of which Jacob Zuma is part.

Hands off Jabob Zuma!

The only person who has attacked and injured the person of Jacob Zuma is Jacob Zuma himself. Rom all reports, he appears to be an arrogant, chauvinistic, immoral man and whether or not he was guilty of rape or not, the fact still remains that he openly slept with a woman whom he knew had aids even though he was a married man. Is this the sort of man we want leading our country? I hope the answer to that question is a resounding NO.

Juan 12/11/2007 11:28:33 AM
He's been found not guilty of rape. He's not been found guilty on corruption, so we can't judge him on that. Fair enough.. BUT we can sure as hell judge him on his utterly moronic and irresponsible comments relating to taking a shower to combat hiv.. or the fact that he didn't even pass matric.. or the fact that he sings about 'bringing machine guns' etc.. He simply is NOT presidential material.. and NO educated person will have respect for him!

C 12/11/2007 11:32:55 AM
"...of the working class and poor of which Jacob Zuma is part." Ha Ha Ha! Nearly spilled my coffee there!

Pieter 12/11/2007 11:33:26 AM
No matter how you look at it. There is a man who has no formal education. He is exactly what the uneducated masses want. Give him to them. Let Jacob lead us into a very shaky future. Poor ANC. Is this the best they have to offer? Shame shame. Shame!

Mdu 12/11/2007 11:34:18 AM
I pity Terror Lekota, I say the once respected man is nowbetraying bufoonery signs but this emanates from his sycophantic Zumaphobic tendencies which has now boomeranged to bite his pitiable sorry ass.The man was shocked by a convincing Zuma nomination, they are now attacking the womens league for dumping Mbeki in favour of Zuma all in the name of women amancipation, sies to these self-serving sycophantic yes-man!South Africa is seeing right through you despots!

Pieter 12/11/2007 11:37:15 AM
Dear columnist, why do you talk so much about Jacob? Why all the conspiricy talk? Is he a hero cause he didn't go to jail? It seems like you like the guy to death. It's a non event if you ask me

Punk 12/11/2007 11:37:21 AM
JZ is no saint, that's for sure, but then who is? By now us whiteys must come to realise, Jacob is a far better proposition than Mbeki ever was or ever could be. JZ for prez....

Ray 12/11/2007 11:37:56 AM
You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried!! Respect is earned and maybe if he had even attempted to keep his nose clean, then maybe there would be a little more respect out there for him. He doesn't care about himself as it seems he does what he wants. How does this translate to looking after an emerging nation in dire need of direction? Yet again we become a laughing stock. A third world country trying to look as if it has first world values!

E 12/11/2007 11:37:59 AM
I have always supported our President as a leader of the ANC but I have over the years come to realise the kind of spitful person he is. People who voted for Mbeki are either sick or are like him, power mongers. We gave him 2 terms to lead the country but is still nt enough. The ANC has spoken, they want JZ to lead the ANC and country. Lets watchout the outcome of Limpopo, my analysis tells me that it will be JZ for Presidency and Nkosasana will be elected from the floor.

hexen 12/11/2007 11:39:31 AM
Jeez, somewhere in the Cadre Training Instititute there must be a course called "How to speak Intellectual English For the Non- Ebglish Speaker". What the hell is an "organic intellectual" - does he only eat free range garlic and beetroots?

Concerned 12/11/2007 11:41:00 AM
I can't understand what you guys see in Zuma. I have always thought of Zuma as a decent person, but is this really the man we want leading our country. I mean, what is he goin' to do differently. Does he understand how difficult being president is. Let's not become another Zimbabwe

Bongi 12/11/2007 11:42:11 AM
Jacob Zuma? Intellectual? Please man! I am not pro-Mbeki but I worried by such blind faith. How is knowingly sleeping with an HIV person and believe a shower will redeem you from infection a political conspirasy? Man, we need zealous cadres like you but man oh man! Zuma? Mbeki is out, by law. Why not let him win and choose the next state pres? What if Zuma is full-blown after taking office? Arrested? Convicted? Will he sing still? Who will run the country?

MAXX2 12/11/2007 11:42:21 AM
Desperate times call for desperate measures, so Terror's outburts should be understood in the same context. If Mbeki goes many of his cronies are going to lose their cushy jobs. That is why a lot of money is being dangled to try and save Prez.Whatever they do,the people have spoken and as Vavi has said,if they offer money,we take it,have lunch in Limpompo and then vote for JZ.

Jack the Lad 12/11/2007 11:44:09 AM
Always wanted to know what a 4th world country would look like. We'll soon find out in another african first. Get a copy of a dictionary and look up the phrase "laughing stock". Pardon me while I laugh.

Gary 12/11/2007 11:44:43 AM
The ANC comes from such a strong noble past??.. it is such a shame that the two best candidates are at best useless and morally bankrupt, this certainly does not bode well for our future. This country has such a bright star to follow at least give us leader?s that we can look up to and not bumbling buffoons

Alicia 12/11/2007 11:44:45 AM
What an unfortunate cliche. Jacob could not keep is hands off his niece, off the Schaik millions, off hand outs, off his high horse, off power! Please help me and name some more. This is fun. HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN. All SA woman with a shred of moral integrity... lets get rid of this man. Imagine him...PRESIDENT@#%&+????!!!!

Mdu 12/11/2007 11:45:54 AM
Stop the hypocrisy of pretendind that JZ is not smarter than both of you and you are aware of it!pRIME mINISTER Churchill had only standard two yet he was better at foreseeing trouble wth appeasing your Adolf Hitler whereas the educated professors of Germany shouted "Herr Hitler!!!" Stop judging by external, fictitious standards and embrace change and acknowledge that a black man can do it too.I am extremely educated for that matter, stop pretending and fooling yourselves that JZ support comes ft

Jonny 12/11/2007 11:45:59 AM
I know another individual who wants Zuma for president. His name is Shabir Shaik. Zuma will give him presidential pardon. The Shaik Mafia will then continue to further their "business interests" with the help of comrade Zuma...

Play the ball, not the man 12/11/2007 11:46:05 AM
Mr Molotsi, your observations are probably correct and I told my family last night that we will have to accept the inevitable of Mr Zuma becoming the next president of the RSA. However, please explain to me: how can one put one's faith and this country's future into the hands of a man who performed unspeakable acts with a woman young enough to be his daughter knowing that she is HIV positive and then, literally, cleanses himself in a shower? Jacob Zuma stands or falls on this! No more, no less!

Tiekies 12/11/2007 11:46:11 AM
There is so much termoil and disagreement within the ANC and its supporters, Its so damn good for the other people and parties in this country , As somone said the the previous comments the so called "masses" are starting to disagree , Thats good for the democracy of this country ,It was predicted by Siener that the ANC is going to split in tiny pieces , This is the begining of the end for the ANC and that would steer SA to a democracy , Round Number 2 !!!

Dredre 12/11/2007 11:46:29 AM
We might all find it hard to know who should be president but on the same level we all know that JZ should never be a President at all not for any country on earth maybe MARS"reasons are crystal clear" let's stop making this easy matter complicated.

dean 12/11/2007 11:46:33 AM
thats my comment to freddy!! Jacob Zuma is a savior to the uneducated masses of SA. after all he has come up with a fool proof way of NOT contracting hiv! I can only just imagine how many people in those masses now take a hot shower after intercourse, with much confidence that they are safe even if the woman they just slept with was hiv positive!!

Nhlanhla Mndaweni 12/11/2007 11:47:14 AM
The poeple who are warning of the dangers of a Zuma presidency remind me of the pre-liberation era when the apartheid regime and the media warned of the 'swaart gevaar', 'communists' and terrorists. I suppose it is normal that the unknown is always feared. The bottom line is that whatever anyone's views, a democratic process has been followed to nominate new leadership for the ANC and all true democrats must accept that. It is frightning to see serving cabinet ministers failing to accept this.

The Truth 12/11/2007 11:48:21 AM
And what has comrade Jacob promised to you all then if he gets the job? It never fails to amaze me that this buffoon is the best alternative that the ANC rank and file can come up with to Mbeki! I mean the man is in all probability going to be charged with and found guilty of tax evasion, fraud etc.!Does that not count at all as he is now portrayed as "The Great Redeemer" and so therefore he is now above the laws of the land which govern us all? Idiots!

Sarah 12/11/2007 11:50:41 AM
How can we sit by & watch this man effectively campaign for presidency in SA with a trial for fraud charges hanging over his head. He has done his utmost to duck and delay the charges and trial, which places him in a negative light. Also, since he is clearly not up to speed on the HIV situation, he might as well leave the great denier Mantu Shabalala Msimang in her place. Between Zuma & Mbeki our choices are limited to alledged fraudsters, alcoholics, thieves & just plain stupid.

MP3 12/11/2007 11:51:46 AM
I'd like to load shed the ANC presidential election. And veto the current system. Solar power is the future! Solar power is a little quicker than a 5 year plan to re-energise SA, the sun shines everyday (when it's not raining), and you don?t have to wait 5 years... Solar power equals light. With light you have vision. With vision you can build a nation. Does JZ have a vision? If so, is it light? Or will we have a powered by the "darkside" scenario on our hands? Yoda! Save us!!!

me 12/11/2007 11:53:10 AM
I love the African idea that if you use big words like Robert Suresh it means you're an intellectual...that is funny, JZ one of the poor hahahaha the man lives in a multi-million rand mansion and drives 4x4's,the only reason Freddy loves him so much is they appear to share the same ammount of education, which is none....will the insanity or the stupidity ever stop...book your tickets whiteys time to fly the coop..fourty million people and all they can find to lead them are these bufoons...

Soso 12/11/2007 11:55:50 AM
those who see conspiracy are seeing dead snakes. JZ has said that he must be charged so that he can defend himself against the aleegations but when he is charged, he and his supporters are coming up with all sorts of stories. Tony Yengeni and the others were charged and sentenced by courts of laws, there were no flawed arguments of conspiracy theories. the man must be charged if there is sufficient evidence to find him guilty. I like both man, Mbeki and Zuma but don't talk nonsense.

Patriot 12/11/2007 11:56:52 AM
I still don't understand what the article is about. It is littered with disparaging general statements without any supporting facts. It also lacks focus and fails to articulate any form of logical and coherent argument. Please stop waisting our time and go back to school!

E 12/11/2007 11:57:53 AM
Guys you see, I never was a supporter of JZ until I saw that he is being pushed. People forget that JZ was once the Deputy Pres in SA and is still of the ANC. There is something good about the Man. Give him a chance. When the massess voted for hm they knew he is good.Thabo cant be president for life. Pikoli,Ngcuka they know that. Fact is JZ wnt be charged.

The fisherman 12/11/2007 11:58:50 AM
What I find so sad is that the masses feel they have to choose between the idiotic Zuma and the tyrant Mbeki. Talk about choosing to be between a rock and a hard place. Surely in a population of 45 million + we can find a suitable candidate? But then I guess the sheep of SA will vote with emotion and not apply their minds. Sad days are coming.

loyiso 12/11/2007 11:59:36 AM
let's put things into perspective, neither Mbeki nor Zuma are fit to govern, Mbeki is a bigot and an eletist who is arrogant enough to say he has no confidence in any on his fellow comrades to lead the ANC, why is that, the anc is not his, it was there before he was even born. As for Zuma, no one will ever have confidence in his leadership because he single handedly tarnished his image by putting himself in a position where his integrity was qestioned.Cyril Ramaposa for president!!!

The Truth 12/11/2007 12:01:55 PM
What a joke Freddy? Are you trying to now say that a fat cat who requires a five car motorcade,a small army of bodyguards (all still funded by you the taxpayer), as well as not being able to afford the school fees of his children on a salary of R800 000 a year at the time he was deputy pres. (mind you,he does have football squad of them!),now represents the poor and working class of our nation? I think not.

Brother 12/11/2007 12:03:42 PM
It's a pity that most people with internet access don't understand politics especially ANC as an organization. Let me tell you this my brother's and sister's Mbeki forced himself to the ANC and he has so many enemies within the ANC. Ask yourselves why Dr Mathews Phosa and Tokyo Sexwale are now on the Zuma camp not Mbeki's camp and also ask yourselves why Mandela is mum on this ANC succession battle. Zuma for president. By the way I am not a Zulu.

soso 12/11/2007 12:05:23 PM
there is also an ill founded argument by certain racists that the Xhosas don't want Zuma to be the President cause he is a Zulu, fair enough there are so many Xhosas who are behind the man. those people who say that must stop dividing our people as this is an ill view of which no reasonable thinking person can come into this irresponsible unfounded conclusion. don't try to devide us cause we are all brothers regardless of our ethnic groups.

nel 12/11/2007 12:06:18 PM
Lekota is as confused as his bosses because they are not prepared to serve under the Zuma presidency.they think they are in the government for life whereas they preach democracy but they are dictators of some sort.i think the comments from Lekota are the "last kicks of a dying horse".no one want them again in the governemnt because they don't care for the poor people.they claim to be the champions of democracy but they don't want to give the chance to others and they are confusing people of more.

Dave Robbins 12/11/2007 12:06:52 PM
There is one reason why all good, honest, thinking people are concerned about Jacob Zuma being elected; if he is innocent of fraud and corruption charges, why has he instructed his lawyers to fight the extradition of documents from Maritius and the UK pertaining to the charges? Are these the actions of an innocent man?

Punk 12/11/2007 12:07:58 PM
JZ is a womaniser? Makes one think of the unspeakable acts Bill Clinton got up to with a woman half his age. Corrupt and moraly irresponsible? Not any different to the George Bush clan. And these guys run one of the most powerful nations on earth. It doesn't excuse what he does or has done, but it also doesn't mean he cannot be a decent president.....

Libembe 12/11/2007 12:08:30 PM
I say no to the fool. If we can't have any better candidate than Mbeki, then let the chief serve another term. That karaoke singing, machine-gun demanding and shower-head will lead us straight to hell. No to kanga fool.

Mlu 12/11/2007 12:08:36 PM
The Zuma camp is an intolerant bunch. Why cant they deal with the issues instead of the man?? If Zuma did not lie why cant he come out and say Terror is lying? And if he(Terror) doesn't like uMshini wam he's got a right to voice his opinion. And just like Vavi, Nzimande, the writer etc, he can use any language he feels is appropriate. Deeeeng!!!! People you cant intimidate all of us, yeses.

Duc 12/11/2007 12:09:59 PM
This all a conspiracy against Mbeki, Zuma is actually in cahoots with all these "detractors" of him to make it look like campaign against him!And he organized with the NPA to charge him so that he will look like a victim and a champion for the poor, after allegedly receiving half a million bucks. An the rape case was done to make him look stupid so that the masses could feel more in touch with him!Grow up SA!

hahaha 12/11/2007 12:11:03 PM
Yes Freddy, JZ needs nobody to tarnish his image, he's done it all by himself. What's mind-boggling is how everyone (including AWL) supports him just because he's popular, not because of his leadership abilities or policies or integrity (or lack thereof rather!) In the private sector he would never be chosen to lead a country, but then again the poor and uneducated rural masses will dance and sing and elect him to lead our country into a downward spiral.

NCM 12/11/2007 12:12:42 PM
JZ has been under investigation since 2001 and is tstill under investigation today. Why 4 so long. Judge Herbet Msimang withdraw charges cause the ste was not ready to proceed, they are still not ready now! They are still investigating. So which prima facia but unwinnable case was Ngcuka talking about? What about the off the record briefing with selected Editors? These are the facts. This is where we see A CONSPIRACY

saliem 12/11/2007 12:13:27 PM
Good stuff Freddy... You rock! Just cannot believe all the tripe that has been written in response by (to name a few) - Joe Soap Citizen, Juan (again), Pieter (again), Sarah, et al. I say give the man a chance. After all if we look at the skulldugery going on with TM and his cohorts, JZ could hardly be worse. Also, he is by no means the only one who is tainted with accusations of corruption concerning the arms deal. JZ has my vote for what it is worth.

soso 12/11/2007 12:16:15 PM
it seems as if the Youth League, SACP, COSATU and the JZ camp have a problem with the NPA. these guys are doing their work and you must stop intimidating them. when the judgment favours you, you cheer but when it doesn't, you attack judges of being discriminatory. they have never complained about the NPA's scorpions when they apprehended the doctors and lawyers who were involved in fraud cases, insted they admired the scorpions but when they investigated Mr Zuma, they started to be their enemies.

Mabhacabhaca 12/11/2007 12:17:30 PM
Cde Terror reminds me of one Comical Ali from Iraq, who became a wasted joke after Saddam... Cde Terror he is just an infidel and tyrant to the revolution, if he is having a problem with another NEC member, where is the protocol, where is the Oliver Tambo principles that we in the ANC are always reminded about... For TM, i wish him well in his retirement... and Long Live to JZ!!!

Chris 12/11/2007 12:18:48 PM
I hate to say it, but most people I know, black and white, who drive this economy, will not stay in SA if JZ is elected. Amazing how people are willing to back a guy who has no idea of governing himself, let alone 44 million odd people. Sad days ahead if you don't have a plan B....

bobo 12/11/2007 12:20:32 PM
What currently is happenning is new within the party, disregarding the tussle between Mbeki and Hani over the vice president of the ANC with the Elders deciding to ask them to step aside and allowing Walter Sisulu to step in. Zuma is a cry baby who doesn't even deserve to be in the Exercutive of the ANC. He couldn't even stop his wife from suicide, how is he going to stop the country? By the way what he's HIV status? He's acting like a 18 year old boy.

NCM 12/11/2007 12:24:27 PM
It is now a tired argument that JZ is immoral because he slept with an HIV+ woman who was a friends daughter without a condom and took a shower to minimize the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. Some poeple keep peddling this fact as if JZ was making policy statements when in fact he was mounting an argument in his defence in a criminal matter. Afterall we are not looking for a saint but a leader who must deal with political proplems and JZ is tried & tested in handling tough political challenges.

Komrat 12/11/2007 12:24:56 PM
Have you guys (and gals) ever pick up on the 'progressives'' lingo? It's peppered with words like comrad etc., AS IF they were communists, born and bred from Russia. It irritates the crap out of me. Why don't they talk about my braddah or my tokolosh or something? My dear progressive cadres. Russia and all its evil fell apart in 1991. Deal with it! You are outdated and irrelevant in the extreme by continuing such balderdash.

kolobe 12/11/2007 12:26:03 PM
Freddy people have sombre apprehensions, south Africa as a developing state should in fact have sound economic policies in place to ensure economic growth, the country currently has a shortage in skills which are the results of the economic growth, The proper ways or systems to create sustainable employment opportunities is to constantly grow the economy through infrastructure development(serious economic high grade material this).the concern we all have is, will JZ be able to apprehend all this dynamics considering his educational background?? (e.g. the Gautrain, will create cleaners in the stations, clerks, accountant e.t.c)

Mabonza 12/11/2007 12:26:50 PM
I don't care who my President is as long as his skeletons in the closet do not overshadow our country I'll be satiesfied.Quite frankly the two nominees' skeletons puts us in a bad space in the eyes of the world. What's even sad is people are now pushing their personal interests never mind the taxpayers. Maybe we should ask them for their bank balances so that they don't chow our money.

me 12/11/2007 12:28:29 PM
If there's anyone ruining Zuma's career, its no one but himself. We all know that our justice system sucks, hence Zuma will keep on winning when it comes to the court of law. But we all know that where there's smoke, there's fire. For heaven's sake, he is suppose to lead by an example. We can't have a president who think that its ok to sleep with a woman young enough to be his daughter, or is this not a problem among Zulus if I may say? Come on Zuma ungatatomkhulu for amanyala.

GP 12/11/2007 12:29:01 PM
Why do we continue to have these arguments where there is no understanding of the logic of one group by the other. We have to accept the logic process of the African and the European are completely different; I'm not saying one is right and the other wrong they are just different. If Europeans want to live in a country where European logic prevails then I'm afraid you will have to live in Europe. If not stay in Africa, enjoy the sun, and never cease to be amazed at what unfolds before you!

Luleka 12/11/2007 12:31:21 PM
Jacob Zuma is not an innocent man he violated a woman's rights and trust. He is relying on a verdict from the court tsss. how many people have walked free in this country from their crimes? I dont want a man with something like that hanging over his head to lead me. his eyes roaming all over the place. Thabo as arrogant, educated, and out of touch as you may call him is a Principled man who stands by his decisions and is not a crowd pleaser. as for ANCWL what a bunch of ....... honestly! lulu

Half of the people who complain about this man have properties and businesses that have more than doubled in value under Mbeki's tenure. Most of the hate statements are never backed by facts. Its the usual unsubstantiated "Mbeki is this ..and that..blah blah" , without facts to back it up.Like it or not , the SA economy has grown tremendously under Mbeki's tenure.Neither you ,me or your unbacked politically immature statements can change that!

Mxolisi Selby Shabangu 12/11/2007 12:36:14 PM
whether we like it or not Mr Jacob will be our next president, so to Mr Mbeki fare thy well and enjoy your retirement.

Jack The Beanstalk 12/11/2007 12:36:38 PM
This is the question. I for one think that Zuma became too prominent for "REX" (Robben Island / Exile / Xhosa) and they had to sort him out. He is constantly painted a bogeyman by the pro-Mbeki press. Another question: Can a Zuma-led government be worse than a Mbeki-led gang?

The Stranger 12/11/2007 12:37:18 PM
Human beings are so interesting. To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it, requires brains. So even if we are not educated good we have brains. So open your minds JZ must be, He is the solution to something big that we need not to see happening to this country.

Loyd 12/11/2007 12:38:21 PM
I am not a racist, but i have been observing the white people comments on this site. They are always negative about everything done by the blacks. They are negative about the country they live in. They are negative about Mbeki administration, but they pretend that they like Mbeki than Zuma. It's time face the demons of their disguised racist attitudes about this country and the black majority of our people. We can't pretend forever. Freddy Molotsi is spot on.

Sizwe 12/11/2007 12:39:21 PM
You are absolutely right, Mbeki has failed the people. Only Msholozi can lead the ANC back to being the ntrue people's movement, and SA to being a state for the workers and masses. We have had enough of Mbeki and his cronies like Terror Lekota, Mavivi Mayakayaka-Manzini, Phumzile Mlambo-Nquka, disgraced Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, Naledi Pandor, Alec Erwin, Essop Pahad, Sydney Mufamadi Mbazima Shilowa, and Ronnie Kasrils. When Msholozi comes in he must throw them out and put true comrades in.

We need a woman for President. Someone who will focus on the future and what is best for this country. Someone who don't blame, but take responsibility and gets the job done. Someone who's ego and greed aren't priority above serving the people of this country - who will combat crime, who will create employment for every South-African, and who will help the poor and raise it's people above their poverty.

Like most politicians torror and all mbeki lieutents have ammased alot of wealth what is he saying about the "thruth" on his wine farms, shares in most companies then has the audacity of patronising us working class :protecting us from Zuma gevaar" when he doesnt care about us like all of them In FREE STATE he is unpopular n dat says a lot about him, when he was dismisd as premier people wore tshirts with his face after mafiken he utterd tribal statments after he won against tshwete, so its ric

Doink 12/11/2007 12:42:52 PM
We are now tired of Zuma and Mbeki in your column. Some of us can't wait for this Polokwane madness to pass by. Will some one please tell me when will Jackie Selebi be charged ? We were told early this week ? Zuma can wait until January.

Jelo 12/11/2007 12:44:05 PM
The ANC will be in power with a 66.6% majority for the rest of my life-time, so what the heck do I care? It's all just political posturing, and all the promises JZ makes now will come to naught, just like all the previous promises of the ANC. Maybe I should just emigrate and get out of this Mickey-Mouse, sh*t-hole 3rd-world country.

True Blue SA 12/11/2007 12:44:35 PM
Yes Saliem - if your comments in the Total petrol saga is anything to go by - where you in effect said it was OK for the garage in questiobn to put up their petrol prices before the relevant deadline - then I am not surprised you will vote for ANC - just your type of political party - corrupt and a bunch of crooks

me 12/11/2007 12:45:51 PM
Terror is the last person to educate masses about tribalism he was quoted as saying"its time for basotho to take over the ANC from ngunis) after he won against tshwete in mafikeng conference, after he was exposed about wine farms he startd bein a lumpent, Phumzile must keep quite about 50:50 coz she was handed a position by her husband on a platter and she isnt a memba of the WL and wants to claim to be interestd in gender whereas we know they want to kip their positions and get mor shares

Dzivhani 12/11/2007 12:45:58 PM
Its now late to canvass against Umsholozi...The writting is on the wall..Viva Msholozi

JR 12/11/2007 12:47:49 PM
Joe Soap Citizen: The woman that JZ consensually slept with is HIV positive and that does not mean she has AIDS; Juan: You do not have to pass matric to be a leader - surely Moshoeshoe did not pass matric probably never smelled the classroom; Pieter: Please ask JZ what jail is; Ray: Respect! I thin JZ earned it by simply standing firm against apartheid. Freddy: Thank you.

Sello 12/11/2007 12:49:18 PM
Who exactly are you talking to? Us news24 users or who? You dont make sense!

J0e 12/11/2007 12:51:02 PM
Jacob Zuma is not fit to govern SA and i can't see why people back him. It's rather sad that people are totally blinded, where have you been all this time, have you not seen all the allegations against the man. If a man knowingly sleeps with an HIV +ve women, that tells you alot about his character and intellect. Whats wrong with you JZ supporters ???? Why the hate for Mbeki?????? Imagine what the world thinks about SA...

Sammy 12/11/2007 12:51:04 PM
The ANC under JZ can't make 60% after the election, that will be the consequences that the ANC pay for lack of leadership and organisation, People like Fred, Vavi and Fikile and misleading the nation. As for Vavi, he leaves much to be desired with his reckless utterrances, he can't be my leader. Those are the kind of people who surround JZ, Birds of the same feathers flock together, I won't vote ANC should Zuma be president.

Thabin 12/11/2007 12:52:05 PM
Zuma supporters pls educate me; I am really struggling to find positive points about Zuma; don't tell me about conspiracies against him; tell me what is the man bringing to the table; is he going to improve the economy, reduce unemployment/poverty; improve our education system and tackle aids? JZ was a Deputy Pres for a few years, what positive things did he do during that time?

The Black Don 12/11/2007 12:52:30 PM
"On Zuma's testimony that he had a shower immediately after having intercourse with the woman to lessen his chances of contracting HIV, Kemp says this was not unusual behaviour"... Its obvious that he was not supposed to sleep with a HIV person unprotected. Okay, thats plain stupid but then again its NORMAL to take a shower after sexual intercourse whether the person you slept with is HIV or not. The problem we have here is he slept with her knowing that she is HIV. Anyway, lets we will see!

tokka 12/11/2007 12:55:59 PM
I personally know many intelligent South Africans, and I read about many more. Impressive people! So is JZuma en Mbeki the best we can do? Really, are there no other better options?? Is this what we are stuck with? Not only are we a country with poor Maths results and poor health, we also have no leaders. Where are all the hoofseun material? Or Hoofmeisie for that matter?

JC 12/11/2007 1:04:02 PM
Interesting how quickly people shout foul when others use their own tactics against them. Even the SACP and the ANCYL make accusations of this being undemocratic. BUT when they used the same tactics (and still are) they say it is in the spirit of democracy. Seems the word democracy is fast becomming the term for oppression.

Khathu 12/11/2007 1:08:07 PM
Wow, this one sick situation. I correctly heard Zuma talking about the AIDS situation and appealing for a state of emergency to be declared. Tough words coming from a man who resorted to the almighty shower to lessen his chances of contractin HIV. Mr Zuma cant handle his finances, he clueless when it comes to AIDS (the shower), disrespects women and people still want him to rule? Am I missing something?

RLB 12/11/2007 1:10:35 PM
whoever sets the standards is way off mark; education, sophistication, sinless (morally blameless - on this one I know no one person who qualifies and etc...all we need is a leader willing to make SA work for ALL who are in it. We will deal with the luxury of morally blameless when effective change has been effected

Cat 12/11/2007 1:10:49 PM
Every day I look for a reason to return to South Africa and every day someone on here give me a reason NOT to.

sal;iem 12/11/2007 1:11:18 PM
Mr True Blue SA, it is precisely because of idiots like you that we are still battling to achieve reconciliation in this country. Secondly, if you were more literate you would not have interpreted my comment on the petrol price saga as an endorsement of the action by that garage. Grow up!

ZZ 12/11/2007 1:14:13 PM
Anybody that thinks Zuma has the intellect to stand up to a mental joust from a goat are themselves complete cabbage heads. He's an idiot. He's a simpleton. In fact this country is becoming a habitat for the cerebrally challenged, so I guess he might as well be the bafoon to lead them...sionara, I'll find myself someplace where the average IQ is above 3 thanks. I'll stand on the other side and laugh at the fools who voted in the dancing bloody neanderthal as they reap what they have sowed. Hehe.

Tumi 12/11/2007 1:17:12 PM
At the end of the day, it is not about JZ's camp or Mbeki's camp. It is about the smartest man leading the nation. With due respect to Mr. Zuma, he is not a smarter leader. The gentleman can't see anything beyond Ikandla (JZ's original home in KZN).Personally, I am not going to photo for a man who fails to unnderstand; fisrt, intorduction to introduction to introduction to economics, introduction to introduction to introduction law. More importantly, he can't see the bigger picture.

Cape Town Kid 12/11/2007 1:20:44 PM
I guess this is how I feel wrt to the above comments. It must be ever so difficult to shake of the prejudice and anger. The reasoning is so poor. I guess the effects of mass programming is still so evident. Cant shake of the indoctrination. Propaganda is targeted at fools...need I say more...heh heh heh

supa 12/11/2007 1:22:55 PM
The ANC camp in power has become very cosy and does not want to lose their jobs and power. I'm fairly sure there will be a shakeup if Mbeki loses, beacuse his camp is also going to get nailed with corruption and incompetence charges from the other side (all politicians are crooked). Hopefully Zuma will have a diligent deputy. The country could benefit from poplular president and a persuasive deputy. Perhaps one day national elections will be more important than the ANC elections...

NZ 12/11/2007 1:24:24 PM
Q:"What did you do afterwards?" JZ:"Well, you know that after chopping onions one washes their hands." Q: "What do you mean? Do you mean, you took a shower?" JZ:...pause, think, "Yes". Somethings you don't need to explain to ignorant people, feed them what they want to hear and be on your way. Let them hang on to whatever their minds can trunk up.

Bg 12/11/2007 1:29:52 PM
hahahahahahahahahahahahahah, hahahhahahahahaha thank you Freddy I haven't laughed this much in years....that was seriously funny!

GP 12/11/2007 1:32:04 PM
I am hoping this will silence the JZ supporters for ever. Can one of them please tell me one action JZ has said he will take to improve the lives of the poor and the working class you say he is so much a part of. In fact please tell me one thing he has said he will do, repeat do, about anything.

Krantz 12/11/2007 1:32:31 PM
It is a pity he appeals to the idiot masses, just like GW Bush does. But then, Africa with all it's corruption, dispair and crime will never change, no matter who you put in charge. May God help you all.

A DJ 12/11/2007 1:34:39 PM
Sir, could I ask you to refrain from including me in your "whites are racist" comment. I would prefer if you would rather say "some whites are racist"... thank you.

Banni 12/11/2007 1:34:53 PM
Hey Tokyo, that was a brillinat move to fly the Zuma Flag, please speak to Cyril and Mathew as well. Msholozi As per your speach, Please assist and adress the following once you are in power. Poverty,Crime, Eskom and HIV.Please provide free tickets to Australia for the other guys on Nationawide.

Mdu 12/11/2007 1:39:23 PM
This is your response to your question: you fail to understand that this is not America where an individual campaign in South Africa ANC reuls whether Msholozi or Vavi is at the helm which is what brought about the demise of Mbeki, i.e. lack of collective leadership and wisdom! Are you answered now, or you need some more, the level of ignorance of the people at the postings is beginning to shock me!

Pieter Joubert 12/11/2007 1:45:22 PM
I'm not saying that anybody else's better than Zuma. Mbeki's public profile's been too cleverly controlled. BUT a court of law found Shaik guilty of BRIBING ZUMA. Even if that rape case was a set-up, he still behaved immorally & irresponsibly, proven by his own testimony. The furore about Zuma's innocence is just propaganda. Most of us know enough of the law to see what the court cases mean: He is not a leader to be entrusted with crucial decisions that affect our lives. SA deserves better.

juzee 12/11/2007 1:53:46 PM
you can say all you want, you can call him names and talk about his rape trial and critisize his decision making but only the votes will count come this weekend.unfotunatly this web sites and all the comments do not reach the people who will be voting only the prevelaged few. Goodluck to hoever is going to be in power and those who are thinking of leaving the country when zuma becomes president thanks for giving other people oppotunity.

S 12/11/2007 1:53:50 PM
Thabin, rather ask what Mr. Mbeki has done in recent years to ensure JZ as such a favourite. Mr. Mbeki has virtually turned his back on crime, ignored the please of the people to act against crime, did very little about government incompetence and corruption, in a nutshell ignored the people. JZ seems to at least have the people at heart and knows what people at ground level are asking for from a leader. Unlike Mr. Mbeki.

sipho 12/11/2007 1:54:23 PM
It seems to me that we need a lot of education to free our minds as Africans. Judging from history, Africans have been more emotional rather than rational in selecting our leaders and the result? you can only guess there?s no price for that one. It was a good move to elect Nelson Mandela during the transition period. Times have changed, we need someone to take us forward economically and so forth. "Nimsaphi umuntu ongafundanga?"

Mo 12/11/2007 1:58:04 PM
"With a landslide majority vote, we declare Jacob Zuma the new president of the ANC." Maybe not exactly like that, but come the 21st Dec, something similar will be boggling SA till 2012. And I can't wait for that moment...the kanga moment and the shower era! Guilty or not, JZ's image is tainted, but the rank and file see nothing wrong with that, hence he'll be the next SA prez!

Travis 12/11/2007 2:00:19 PM
I think your assumption is incorrect .. I am a white male and i love my country but everyday its get harder to stay positive about it . Crime , Corruption , Poverty to name a few , are getting out of control and to support Zuma who is on trial for many of these i have mentioned above is absurd ! maybe Mbeki is not great but anything is better than Zuma

sharon 12/11/2007 2:03:25 PM
surely there must be a minimum requirement in order to be president of a country? Zuma may be popular with some factions but he has a std 4 education...you need at a least a std 8 to sweep the street. he has no morals , treats wome like sez objects , aligns himself with the likes of the Shaiks. Is this really the man you want to lead our country? Only an idiot would say yes , and right now it seems that we have more idiots than sane people in our voting populace , God save us all

Jack The Beanstalk 12/11/2007 2:04:04 PM
Up to now JZ had no chance to prove himself as a president. However, TM had and let's look at what he brought to the table: A Corrupt Police Chief / A hard boozing Minister of Health / A Minister of trade that shouted sabotage at Koeberg to hide the government's inability to produce a basic commodity / An Education Minister that seemingly has no idea what the concept of education entails / An absent Foreign Minister (as absent as TM himself). Should I carry on...?
