Cope considering mergers

Cape Town - The Congress of the People is talking to more than one party about absorbing them into its ranks, Cope executive member Mluleki George said on Thursday.
"At the moment we are in discussion with parties that want to dissolve, completely dissolve, and join us, and be part of us," he told a media briefing in Cape Town.
This would mean those parties would be part of Cope.
He said it would not be ethical to say what those parties were.
"We will tell South Africans which those parties are when the time comes," interjected another Cope leader, Leonard Ramatlakane.
George said Cope would discuss coalitions only after the coming elections, if it did not have enough votes to govern.
"We do not target to be a coalition government. We are targeting to be a government," he said.
