Mobilitrix wins top mobile award

Johannesburg - Mobilitrix, one of South Africa's leading mobile solutions providers, was presented with the Frost & Sullivan "2008 South African Mobile Content Product Innovation Award" at the inaugural banquet held in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The award recognises the company's outstanding mobile content management tools and business solutions.
There to accept the award were Mobilitrix CEO, Chris Rolfe and CTO and founder Andrew Cardoza.
Cardoza, who has extensive experience in data communication and GSM network architecture, founded the company in 2006.
He was joined in 2007 by Rolfe, the former CEO of Virgin Active South Africa.
Together Rolfe and Cardoza have developed a range of mobile products with the vision of creating a platform that forms a "bridge" between traditional static media and new digital media.
In essence, Mobilitrix has designed mobile content management solutions that help print and traditional media companies convert static content into digital content using the mobile phone.
"Traditional media is static by nature," explains Rolfe, "now media owners are able to deliver value added content to their consumers, readers, and viewers - which is imperative in today's technologically dynamic information age. The mobile phone is changing the way media is consumed."
Mobilitrix's product offering is differentiated from their competitors in four notable ways:
- All the products and services (including, search, notification, and analytics) are available via a user-friendly self-help website;
- Mobilitrix have made running a mobile campaign extremely simple and accessible to non-techies - child's play almost!;
- Pricing is based on an intelligent Cost-Per-Activity (CPA) pricing model which means that user's are only charged when mobile consumers interact with the content via their mobile phones. This translates into no upfront, no registration, no usage fees - so it's similar to Google's PPC model;
- The CPA pricing model removes the economic barrier to entry allowing SMEs and large international organisations alike to run mobile campaigns, only paying for what is used by the end consumer.
Other notable companies who have managed to coup Frost & Sullivan awards this year include:
- Nokia who received the 2008 North American Mobility Award for On-deck Mobile Advertising;
- IBM won the 2008 North American Enterprise Product of the Year Award;
- Verizon has won the 2008 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Line Strategy which recognises the companies leadership role in developing and delivering hosted IP telephony and voice-over-IP access services;
- Oracle has earned the 2008 Market Leadership of the year Award for its Clinical Trial Management Systems in recognition of its leadership initiatives and aggressive growth and business development strategies.
