Warsaw - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says investment in green technologies could help remedy the global financial crisis.
Ban is quoted in an interview published on Saturday in Poland's daily Gazeta Wyborcza as saying: "Clean industry and investment have already shown that they generate high revenue and long-term benefits."
He went on to say: "For that reason the means that [what] we will use to fight global warming may help in fighting the financial crisis."
Ban was interviewed by the paper before a two-week UN conference on climate change begins Monday in Poznan, Poland.
Delegates from more than 190 nations are expected to work toward a successor treaty to the Kyoto Protocol that expires in 2012.
