Durban - The ANC featured prominently as a common political enemy during the DA/IFP Coalition for Change rally in Durban on Sunday.

Both partners in the marriage have criticised the ruling party saying it has failed to respond to the challenges of HIV/Aids, crime, unemployment, corruption and poverty.

IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi urged their supporters to go all out on April 14 to vote for them.

"The only way for the South African people to make their voice heard is to cut the ANC down to a size where it can no longer rule the country by itself and without the South African people," he said.

Buthelezi said his party has designed solutions for all the five problems, saying the IFP and DA have listened to the citizens of SA and engaged a political debate about real solutions.

"We have engaged a public debate on how to create jobs and make our economy grow. We put forward plans to put food in the stomachs of those who are hungry," he said.

Buthelezi said the ANC was engaged on the issues, but it refused to be participate.

Ideology

He said: "Instead it has chosen to talk about ideology. We are not in Europe. We are not an American university campus where people go around disputing ideological issues."

Leon said the marriage will save the province of KwaZulu-Natal from the "dead hand of ANC control".

Mbeki 'a hypocrite'

He took a swipe on Mbeki saying the latter accuse the IFP of being intolerant. "He is nothing less than a hypocrite." He branded the ANC as the most intolerant party.

"In this election, my party and I have been on the receiving end of ANC abuse and disruption over and over again.

He charged that on Tuesday the ANC tried to drown out a DA rally in Port Elizabeth by blasting out loud music. "They also tried to disrupt DA national chair Joe Seremane's speech in Mzamhlophe, near East London.

He sad the party has taken the ANC to the Independent Electoral Commission for the incidents.
