DA 'bullish' about election

Johannesburg - The Democratic Alliance is "feeling bullish" as it enters the final few weeks of the 2004 election campaign, DA spokesperson Douglas Gibson said on Monday.
The DA plans to concentrate in the next two weeks, which it has termed the "final push" phase, on uniting opposition voters.
Gibson told reporters in Johannesburg it was important to have a strong opposition "to cut the government down to size."
Gibson said when the DA speaks of uniting the opposition, it is not wanting to gain the support of small parties, such as the Independent Democrats (ID) or the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP). "We want to unite opposition voters (to vote for the DA)."
The DA will also be reminding voters of its key manifesto pledges.
The DA has flighted about 3 000 radio advertisements in this election campaign. "We believe this is one of the largest advertising campaigns ever undertaken in South Africa", Gibson said.
"We are feeling very bullish... because the campaign is going very well" he said.
"We have received excellent feed-back from voters during canvassing and we are well on course to meet the target of 25-30% of the vote we have set for ourselves and our coalition partners."
The DA will hold six large rallies across the country before the elections on April 14, starting on Tuesday in Port Elizabeth.
