Durban - One man was shot dead and another injured by two police officers in Kwadukuza after a vehicle was hijacked in the area on Tuesday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Police spokesperson Inspector Thembeka Luthuli said Inspector Sugen Ramanin and his colleague received information about a hijacked car.
They followed up the information and were led to the army base, where they spotted the hijacked vehicle.
There were apparently four people in the car. They started firing at the police officers.
However, the police fired back and one of the alleged hijackers was shot in the head and chest.
He was taken to hospital and died later. The other alleged hijacker was arrested.
The other two fled the scene on foot.
