Pietermaritzburg - The N3 highway between Durban and Pietermartizburg has been reopened to traffic after it was closed for several hours on Tuesday when a truck carrying at least eight luxury 4x4s and SUVs rolled.
The luxury vehicles are believed to have included Land Cruisers, Range Rovers and Land Rovers.
"Shortly before 7:00 this morning the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and the cars that it was carrying were thrown onto the road," Jeff Wicks, Netcare 911 spokesperson, told News24.
"He is now being treated for serious head and neck injuries at Northdale hospital," said Wicks.
Wicks said it was fortunate that no one else had been injured.
It is not yet known where the vehicles were being transported to, or what caused the driver to lose control, but it is believed that the mist and wet conditions could have been a contributing factor.
