Johannesburg - Four men were arrested in Hazyview for a cash-in-transit heist, Mpumalanga police said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Leonard Hlathi said the men attacked BV security guards when they were loading money at a First National Bank in Graskop near Hazyview on Wednesday.
"The suspects robbed the two guards of their firearms and fled with a cash container with an undisclosed amount of money."
Police were called and pursued the robbers.
"When they came close to the car the robbers opened fire on them and a shoot-out ensued."
Hlathi said one of the suspects was killed during the shoot-out, two fled on foot and were still at large and the four were arrested.
He said police recovered the box and six firearms - one belonging to the guard.
"Their getaway car, the Toyota Hilux taxi, was confirmed (as) a stolen vehicle from Springs."
Hlathi said the men would appear in court soon.
