Johannesburg - Yolanda Kloppers, Miss South Africa in 1978 and well-known beauty consultant in Gauteng, has obtained an interim interdict in the Roodepoort magistrate's court that prohibits her husband from assaulting, verbally abusing or threatening her.
Her husband, Dr Walter Ward, is a prominent medical business person in Johannesburg.
Court documents show that Bradford Wood, the well-known Bad Brad of the first Big Brother series on M-Net, apparently played a big role in the confrontation between Kloppers and Ward. Wood has been living in the couple's luxury home in Northcliff for the past three months.
Wood apparently tried everything to "influence" the couple's oldest son and to "challenge" Kloppers' role as mother.
Kloppers left the family home after the latest confrontation because Ward "used force to throw me out of the house" and he told her "to rather go and sleep in the street", Kloppers said in an affidavit.
Tension
This was preceded by a row over Wood and the "tension" he created in the house. During the row, Ward accused Kloppers of having affairs with other men and he called her an alcoholic and a whore and he "totally lost it".
"I also want to say that Dr Ward locked me into the room during the row. I was petrified and couldn't handle the shock", Kloppers said.
She says Ward and Wood became friends in 2001 and Wood moved into their home three months ago, "without paying rent or making a contribution towards household expenses.
Wood "has a bad influence on my two sons, because he intimidates them and Ward doesn't try at all to discuss the situation with Wood." Ward has now refused Kloppers entry into their home and she also isn't allowed to see her children.
The interdict stated that a copy should be forwarded to the Florida police and Ward may not enter the couple's bedroom.
On September 10 Ward may present reasons why the interdict should not become final.
Louis Shapiro of Shapiro and De Meyer in Pretoria is appearing for Kloppers.
