Police kill suspect in shootout

Durban - A suspected robber was shot dead in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.
Captain Khephu Ndlovu said three men were fleeing a crime scene on Thursday night when the shootout occurred in Umlazi's D Section.
Police were alerted to an armed robbery at Nessas Tavern at 21:55.
The officers spotted a car and gave chase along Mangosutho Highway.
The occupants opened fire on police, who returned fire.
One of the men in the car was shot dead.
The other two escaped, Ndlovu said.
