Bloemfontein - A Lesotho man wanted for murder, was arrested on Sunday in Bloemspruit, Free State police said.
Two officers on patrol in Grasslands were stopped by residents, who told them about a man firing shots at a stokvel (savings club) gathering nearby, Captain Elsa Gerber said in a statement.
"On their arrival at the place, the two policemen found the man, as well as a .38 special revolver that was allegedly used during the shooting.
"When they questioned the man... [they] recognised the suspect as being the same man as on a photo brought from Welkom by a member of crime intelligence."
Gerber said the man was wanted in connection with the murder of an artist, Kalane Maketsi Rantsho, 30.
The man and two others allegedly murdered Rantsho by shooting him several times at Thabana Morena in the Mafeteng area on September 3.
Gerber said the man would appear in court soon, after which the process of extraditing him to Lesotho would begin.
