Cape Town - A father of two fought back tears in the Cape High Court on Monday as he told how he watched alleged serial rapist Tsediso Letsoenya rape his wife.
Letsoenya, a leading seaman in the navy at the time of his arrest, has pleaded not guilty to multiple rape and indecent assault charges.
The father, who may not be identified, told the court he and his wife were held at gunpoint by Letsoenya, as the couple walked along a railway line to a nearby school.
He said Letsoenya had made them undress naked in bushes, and then ordered him to have sex with his wife. Because the husband was too shaken to do so, the couple were led further into the bushes, and the husband was ordered a second time to have sex with his wife.
'I'll show you how'
The husband told the court: "We were naked, and it was cold. My wife is an asthma sufferer, and I was unable to make love to her.
"Letsoenya then said he will show me how to make love to my wife."
After raping her "he then told us to run away".
The husband said they ran to where they had left their clothing, got dressed and ran to a nearby school, where people laughed at them.
He said they telephoned the police, who took them from the school to a hospital.
Asked by prosecutor Heather Meyer how the ordeal had affected him, the husband said: "When my employer heard what had happened he sent me for treatment for post traumatic stress."
He said he was off work for three weeks, but he had received no help from the government for his medical expenses.
The trial continues on Tuesday.
