Pretoria - Two Zimbabweans have been arrested in connection with the murder of a customer at a Pretoria fast-food outlet at the weekend, police reported on Tuesday.
The first, a 27-year-old man, was stopped on the N1 north to Zimbabwe just before 22:00, said Pretoria area commissioner Amon Mashigo.
He was one of seven occupants of a minibus stopped by police near Pumulani tollgate outside Sinoville, Pretoria. The vehicle was first spotted by police and followed in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
Police arrested the second man, aged 30, in Hillbrow early on Tuesday and recovered a red luxury car fitting the description of the getaway one used after Saturday's shooting at Nando's in Waterkloof Glen.
Police also found two revolvers and ammunition, said Mashigo.
The two men would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court shortly on charges of murder and attempted robbery.
Jaco Zwanepoel, 34, was shot dead when he tried to overpower one of three robbers in Nando's on Saturday evening.
He was shot in the neck and, in the commotion, one of the robbers shot an accomplice in the head.
Zwanepoel died in Pretoria East Hospital. The injured robber died at the scene of the shooting.
Mashigo commended investigators for the arrests, and thanked members of the public for supplying information.
