Johannesburg - A 70-year-old farmer was killed and his wife seriously injured when they were attacked by their bulldogs, North West police said on Monday.
Inspector Emmanuel Reetsang said the couple were in their yard at their farm, Vreugde, in Stella near Vryburg on Sunday when the three dogs attacked them.
"It is not known why the dogs attacked the couple, but the man died at the scene and his wife, whose age is unknown, sustained multiple open wounds to the head, legs and arms," said Reetsang.
"The woman managed to go inside the house and phone a neighbour. She was taken to Vryburg hospital. The couple's son then arrived and shot one of the dogs."
