Port Elizabeth - A man standing trial for attempted murder allegedly paid a Nigerian R30 000 to kill his alleged gay friend.
Moulid Osmond Siyad, a sangoma, said Gerrit Jacobs, 41, from Blue Horizon Bay, visited him last year and said that he and his friend, Pieter Huisamen, 36, had problems and that Siyad should pray for him.
Huisamen is blind after Jacobs allegedly hired a prostitute, Norman Erasmus, 18, last year to pour acid on Huisamen. Erasmus and Christiaan Britz, 32, are also charged with attempted murder.
Jacobs and Britz were released on R5 000 bail while Erasmus was released into his parents' custody.
Siyad said Jacobs went to several healers to pray for him before he approached a Nigerian to kill Huisamen.
Siyad testified that Jacobs told the Nigerian where Huisamen stayed, which car he drove, that he had a dog, kept R30 000 in his safe and which nightclubs Huisamen frequented.
Siyad said these conversations took place in his presence.
He also alleged that Jacobs paid a deposit to the Nigerian hired killer to fund his transport, a gun and airtime for his cellphone. The case continues.
