He and 10 other held for driving at more than 180km/h were to spend the night in cells and were due to appear in various courts on Monday.
Kobeli Mokheseng of Ekurhuleni metro police said the man, driving a BMW, was arrested in an anti-speeding operation held between 06:00 and 10:00.
"The man's excuse was that he was in a hurry to get to the airport," Mokheseng said.

"One man's excuse was that he was hurrying to get to the Wesbank raceway," said Mokheseng.
"Another person said they were in a hurry to get to a meeting."
Seven other people were arrested in the operation for driving at speeds in excess of 180km/h.
The alleged speedsters were due to appear in Edenvale and Germiston magistrate's courts on Monday.
