Bloemfontein - Police were on Friday questioning the wife of slain Free State official Noby Ngombane.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Annelie Wrensch confirmed that Nokwanda Ngombane and two other women - believed to be her relatives - had been taken in for questioning.
Police arrived at the home of Nokwanda Ngombane in Hillsboro, Bloemfontein at about 13:00. She left with police officers.
Wrensch said it was not known yet if Nokwanda Ngombane was under arrest.
"The investigation team are questioning them (the three women)" but there was no immediate indication the trio would appear in court soon, Wrensch said.
On Thursday, police said more arrests could be expected in the Ngombane case.
A brother and sister of Nokwanda Ngombane appeared in the Bloemfontein magistrate's court on Thursday. Bongani Mlambo, 28, and Sephumle Booi, 23, had been arrested earlier in the day.
Mlambo, an official at the provincial social development department, faces a charge of murder and Booi, an employee at a clothing design business, faces a charge of accessory to murder after the fact.
They are to stay in custody until their next court appearance next Wednesday.
Ngombane, 38, was gunned down at his Hillsboro home on March 22.
