Johannesburg - A medical assistant from Pretoria
was fined R16 000 in the Scottburgh magistrate's court on Wednesday for speeding.
Beatrix van Schalkwyk, 28, was clocked doing 202km/h on a 120km/h zone along the N2 near Sezela on Tuesday afternoon.
Her reason for speeding was that her passenger had broken his tooth.
Another Gauteng driver, Avalon Edward van der Heever, 40, was fined R15 000 in the Escourt magistrate's court for travelling at 208km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N3 near Escourt.
He claimed that he was late for a meeting.
A third Gauteng speedster, Thabo Mabunda, 29, was find R5 500 (R4 000 for speed and R1 500 for
failing to stop) in the Mooi River magistrate's court on Wednesday.
He was
caught doing 174km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N3 at Mooi River.
He claimed that his female passenger was ill.
