Cape Town - A 16-year-old boy was shot dead when gangsters opened fire on another man in Delft on the Cape Flats on Monday night.
Delft police spokesperson Captain Joel Wilson on Tuesday identified the dead youth as Alfonso Roberts.
Wilson said Roberts and a friend were chatting on a street corner when a man passed them. He was followed by four other men, allegedly members of the Dixie Boys gang.
The first man took out a firearm and aimed it at the suspected gang members,
but the gun jammed.
The four men fired a volley of shots, hitting Roberts in the chest.
He staggered into the backyard of a house where he collapsed and died. No one else was injured during the incident.
Wilson said two men, aged 24 and 34, of Delft were arrested after a tip-off from the community.
