Johannesburg - Two houses have been petrol-bombed and six people arrested following a violent protest by residents at Huhudi township in Vryburg in North West, the SABC reported on Monday.
Angry residents blockaded roads with burning tyres, old metals and bricks.
They were demanding the immediate re-instatement of six ANC branch members who have been suspended for allegedly disrupting council meetings on numerous occasions.
The ANC members were calling for the dismissal of corrupt councillors in the Naledi local municipality.
Police were still patrolling the area late on Sunday night.
