Durban - A Durban policeman who allegedly solicited bribes from two people during a police recruitment process was arrested on Thursday, police said.
Superintendent Jay Naicker said the 38-year-old officer was based at the decentralised training office and was arrested by the Durban organised crime unit.
"Colleagues became suspicious when they found two women who had failed the physical tests undergoing other tests during the recruiting process."
The man faces two counts of corruption and is expected to appear at the Durban Regional Court shortly.
"We are of the opinion that this arrest is significant in terms of our fight against corruption. Fighting corruption within the SAPS is one of our priorities," Naicker said.
