Senekal - Well-known Afrikaans actor and director, Mees Xteen, died in an old-age home just nine days after five charges of indecent assault against him were withdrawn because of his ailing health.
The 58-year-old Xteen died on Sunday morning at Westerson House.
It was alleged that Xteen indecently assaulted girls between the ages of eight and 14. The charges were dropped in the Worcester magistrate's court.
Western Cape director of public prosecutions Frank Kahn said the charges were withdrawn because Xteen was terminally ill and not medically fit to stand trial.
According to a doctor's report, Xteen was in the terminal stage of liver cirrhosis and suffered from liver failure. He also had hepatic encephalitis, inflammation of the brain caused by liver failure.
Xteen was bedridden over the last few days and was unable to do anything for himself.
