Cape Town - The New National Party's (NNP) disciplinary hearings against former deputy minister David Malatsi and former Western Cape premier Peter Marais finished late on Tuesday night.
NNP spokesperson Alie van Jaarsveld said on Wednesday the first witness, premier Marthinus van Schalkwyk, had completed his submission about 23:00.
He said Tuesday's proceedings began 90 minutes after the scheduled time. "There was frustration with all sorts of objections."
The disciplinary hearings are in camera and the media are not allowed to cover the proceedings.
Marais and Malatsi are accused of bringing the name of the party into disrepute and face kickback allegations relating to the controversial Roodefontein golf estate development.
Both are currently out on bail of R10 000 following their arrest by the Scorpions in connection with allegations of corruption relating to the golf estate.
Van Jaarsveld said the hearings will continue next week, probably on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, when the NNP calls two more witnesses - Freddie Adams, the party's Western Cape provincial chief secretary, and Dirk Bakker, the party's national legal director.
