Johannesburg - When bitterness tends to overwhelm her, she prays that she would come to terms with her ruined life, says Suraya Scott.
The 37-year-old woman who was paralysed when the stage collapsed during a Women's Day celebration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, says the accident changed her life.
Scott, a businesswoman from Ridgeway, Johannesburg, was talking to journalists in the spinal rehabilitation unit at Curamed-Muelmed Hospital in Pretoria where she's recovering after a back operation.
She says she's getting better, and is not in so much pain anymore. She believes the mishap could have happened to anyone.
Yet, she has many questions and sleeps badly, she says.
Scott says she has already considered legal action but first plans to devote all her energy to recovering and adjusting to her situation.
"I need to get back to my business, because I pay my own salary," she says.
