Cape Town - A Marina da Gama resident was attacked and hit in the face three times by another motorist in front of his family in a suspected case of road rage on Saturday.
The man who was attacked in turn broke the windows of the other motorist's minibus.
Jeffrey Doveton, 30, his wife, Cheryll, and their daughter, Jenna, 3, were driving home on the main road in Lakeside when a Venture minibus tried to overtake their car.
The driver of the minibus, in which Fish Hoek High School pupils were being transported, apparently rode bumper to bumper in an attempt to overtake Doveton's vehicle.
Captain André Traut of western metropole police says Doveton stopped at a shopping mall in Muizenberg, and the Venture driver followed him and hit him in the face.
Traut said Doveton clenched a fist and broke side windows of the Venture.
Doveton laid a charge of assault at Muizenberg charge office and the minibus driver notified Fish Hoek police of the incident.
The incident has been referred to the senior state prosecutor for a decision regarding prosecution.
