Four drown at SA's beaches

Johannesburg - South African beaches took their toll on New Year's Day when four people drowned.
Two lifesavers at Kenton-on-Sea, close to Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape, were unable to resuscitate 38-year-old swimmer Rubin Ngantweni on Wednesday.
At nearby Boknes, a four-year-old boy drowned while swimming in shallow water. Police divers from Port Elizabeth managed to recover the body.
Another two beachgoers drowned on KwaZulu-Natal beaches, bringing to 27 the number of people who have lost their lives on the province's beaches since December 1.
An unidentified man drowned at Durban's North Beach, while a 33-year-old man drowned at the La Mercy Lagoon, north of Durban.
Divers are still looking for the second man's body in the lagoon.
