Johannesburg - A security guard is in a critical condition in a Centurion hospital after he was shot by three armed men, posing as security guards, on Tuesday morning, Pretoria police said.
The armed robbers shot and wounded the security guard twice while he was on duty at the Garden Golf Estate in Nandi, Centurion, Inspector Paul Ramaloko said.
"They took his 9mm pistol and fled the scene."
Ramaloko said the motive behind the shooting was being investigated.
"It is possible that the shooting could be related to the security guard strike or it could be that the suspects wanted the guard's firearm."
A case of attempted murder was opened and police were still searching for the men.
