Final arguments in Taliep case

Cape Town - Final arguments got under way on Monday in the trial of Najwa Petersen and three men accused with her of the murder of her entertainer husband Taliep.
Two of the men, Waheed Hassen and Jefferson Snyders, have admitted to a role in the December 2006 killing, but Petersen and Abdoer Emjedi continued to maintain their innocence.
Petersen listened attentively as lead prosecutor Shireen Riley began her argument at 10:30.
She told Judge Siraj Desai that he should accept as true the evidence of a state witness, Fahiem Hendricks, that Hendricks arranged hitmen at Petersen's request.
Desai said that though Hendricks was an accomplice, his evidence was on a "higher plane" than normal accomplice testimony because its essential features had been confirmed by Hassen and Snyders.
