Port Elizabeth - A fire gutted a large section of a hotel on Port Elizabeth's beachfront on Wednesday evening, a spokesperson for the city's fire brigade said.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Acting emergency services director Wimpie Kruger said the Caboose Hotel, a two-storey wooden building on the beachfront, caught fire shortly after 18:00.
By 21:00, the fire was contained.
The fire brigade was able to save one wing of the building, but about 60% of the hotel was destroyed, Kruger said.
