Johannesburg - An operational plan to deal with congestion at many road intersections resulting from power cuts has been devised, Johannesburg metro police said on Monday.
"The plan involves deploying officers at the off-ramps along the freeways," said spokesperson Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
"We will not be at each and every intersection but officers will monitor these intersections in the mornings and afternoons."
Minnaar said the plan would be evaluated on a daily basis and was aimed at improving traffic flow.
He said metro police officers would continue to perform their core functions of enforcing traffic laws, by-laws and crime prevention.
