Durban - A pathologist will next week return to the mountains of Ingwavuma in northern KwaZulu-Natal to try to throw light on the remains of eight males found there recently.
Since the find, police have been able to ascertain that among the dead were a man of between 55 and 65 years; two 35-year-olds; a 25-year-old and four boys between the ages of 13 and 20 years.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Vishnu Naidoo said the remains had been there for between 13 years and 20 years.
He said that at this stage there was no evidence of foul play.
"We are exploring all options. Until we find evidence as such, we cannot say there was foul play."
He said he could not confirm if there were eight complete skeletons.
They would return to the scene next week accompanied by a pathologist to collect further information.
