Johannesburg - A 60-year-old music teacher appeared in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly sexually molesting one of his young female students, Eastern Cape police said.
Inspector Milanda Coetzer said the man, who cannot be named until he pleads in court, was also being investigated for molesting three other girls, and a 25-year-old woman who claims to have been molested by the man when she was younger.
"The man is thought to have sexually assaulted these children and the 25-year-old over a period of time spanning several years and the five are all his relatives," she said.
The music teacher was arrested after one of the girls, aged ten, reported him to police last Thursday, saying he had sexually molested her when she was only six.
Police were also investigating if the man could be linked to even more cases around Cape Town and Johannesburg.
"Inspector Barend Lensley is expected to travel as far afield as Cape Town and Johannesburg during his investigations and is greatly concerned that his investigation may not find all the children who may have been assaulted by the man," Coetzer said.
