Bloemfontein - Former fugitive Drikus Haasbroek pleaded guilty on Tuesday to stealing weapons from the Tempe military base in Bloemfontein in 1998.
Haasbroek appeared in the local magistrate's court on charges of housebreaking and theft. His case was postponed to February 12 for sentencing.
After the theft, the former furniture-maker from Bloemfontein fled with Sergeant-Major Marius Lamprecht.
Haasbroek was arrested in November while sleeping on a farm near Pelindaba.
According to Haasbroek's plea explanation the weapons were
stolen for the "Afrikaner Volksbeweging" (Afrikaner people's movement).
Two brothers, Hendrik and Pierre du Preez, and former Afrikaner Eenheidsbeweging member Marius Swanepoel have already been convicted and sentenced for the theft of the military weapons to the value of almost R800 000.
Hendrik du Preez and Swanepoel were also found guilty of the double murder of two defence force members during the theft.
The stolen weapons have still not been found.
Police are also still searching for Lamprecht.
