Man nabbed for 'laser jammer'

Johannesburg - A 35-year-old man was arrested for evading a speed trap in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Sunday.
The driver of a BMW M3 had a "laser jammer" inserted on his number plates to avoid being caught by a speed camera, inspector Jimmy Maboko said.
He said a chip is inserted onto both plates so that when the car passes the speed trap, the camera "jams" instead of recording the speed and number plates of the vehicle.
"But, police stopped him on Saturday when a speed trap failed to record his number plates. He had been speeding."
The man was arrested for defeating the ends of justice and is expected to appear in the Boksburg magistrate's court on Monday.
