The mother of all braais

Cape Town - Whether you call it a kebab, as the organisers do, or a sosatie, two kilometres of sizzling flesh is going to make for one mother of a braai.
Steel producer ArcelorMittal is to host an assault on the world record for the longest beef sosatie at its Newcastle works in KwaZulu-Natal on October 17.
The company's publicists said on Wednesday that the current record was just over 1.5 kilometres.
The record bid was being undertaken in association with 15 charitable organisations, and once cooked, the meat would be distributed to disadvantaged communities in the Newcastle area.
Guinness World Records requires the sosatie, which would be suspended above the fire on metal rods rather like a series of joined spit braais, to be cooked as one continuous piece.
Once cooked and divided, the sosatie would make 10 000 smaller sosaties.
