Johannesburg - An Eastern Cape man was found beaten to death with a hammer in his room on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
Superintendent Gcinikaya Taleni said housemates went looking for him when they woke up and he was not around. They discovered his body in his bed in his outside room.
He said further investigation led police to two addresses, where they arrested two men - thought to be friends of the dead 24-year-old-- and seized a hammer.
The two, both aged 20, were in custody in the Queenstown police holding cells and would probably appear in the Queenstown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Taleni said it had since emerged that one of the men might be linked to other violent cases, including a murder in Johannesburg, but he could not provide details of this incident.
