Grahamstown - A woman in labour was allegedly assaulted by the driver of an ambulance taking her to hospital on Tuesday.
Inspector Mali Govender said on Wednesday the 24-year-old woman was being driven to Settlers hospital in Grahamstown when she was allegedly indecently assaulted by the driver.
She reported the matter to a nurse at the hospital, who alerted the police, said Govender.
Govender said the driver was arrested and will appear in court shortly on charges of indecent assault.
The woman was not injured, but was hospitalised due to her pregnancy, said Govender.
