Johannesburg - A man was arrested and one-and-a-half tons of poached perlemoen confiscated in the biggest bust of the endangered shellfish in the Eastern Cape, SABC news reported on Monday.
The bust was made in Port Elizabeth's upmarket suburb of Framesby.
Police and Marine Coastal Management officials staked out the house and pounced on the premises on Sunday afternoon. They found the shelled perlemoen which is worth about R1.5 million on the black market, according to the SABC report.
