'Dad poisons kids, self'

Thohoyandou - A Limpopo girl died and two others were in a serious condition in hospital after they were allegedly poisoned by their 38-year-old father on Monday night, police said.
Captain Ailwei Mushavhanamadi said the man from Khwekhwe near Thohoyandou allegedly put a poisonous substance in cup and gave it to the girls to drink.
The man thereafter drank from the same cup in an attempt to kill himself.
The girls became seriously ill and were taken to hospital along with their father after neighbours reported the incident to police.
One of the children later died and the otherstwo were in a serious condition.
The father was under police guard in hospital.
On recovering the man would appear in court on charges of murder and attempted murder, Mushavhanamadi said.
