Johannesburg - A 70-year-old woman was raped by a wanted serial rapist at her home in Dutywa, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.
Captain Lingisile Magama said the man knocked at the elderly woman's house in Ncingwane village in Dutywa at 01:30 on Saturday.
"She peeked through the curtain to see who was knocking. She recognised him as a local man suspected of being a serial rapist and refused to open. He then forced the door open," said Magama.
He demanded money from the elderly woman and when she told him she did not have it, he raped her, said Magama.
"The woman informed her granddaughter who had arrived home from Cape Town on Sunday, about the incident. Police were alerted," he said.
