Bredasdorp - The pilot who was flying the Lightning jet which crashed during an air show at Bredasdorp, Dave Stock, has been found dead.
A witness earlier told News24 that the 46-year-old apparently ejected before the plane crashed and that attempts were being made to find him.
However, he is said to have sent a mayday that he was struggling to eject.
The Silver Falcons, the Air Force's official aerobatic team, flew a missing man formation after it was announced that Stock had died.
Stock had over 15 000 flight hours and had taken part in several air shows.
The fighter jet belongs to Thunder City at the Cape Town International Airport. The air show ends on Sunday.
