Durban - Two "ghost writers" were arrested on Monday for allegedly writing the exams of two KwaZulu-Natal matriculants near Kwadukuza (formerly Stanger), education authorities said.
In a statement on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal education department spokesperson Christi Naude said the two people were caught attempting to write the mathematics paper for two matriculants at the Shaka's Kraal Adult Public Learning Centre about 20km southwest of Stanger.
Naude said an official from the examinations directorate of the education department scrutinised all identity documents when she found that the identity documents of the ghost writers did not match those they were supposed to be writing for.
The police were then called and the two arrested.
Police comment was not immediately available and it was not clear on what charges the two had been arrested.
