Bloemfontein - Free State police arrested 14 illegal immigrants and confiscated drugs on Wednesday during a raid on a block of flats in the Bloemfontein central business district.
The building was previously the Maitland Hotel.
Sergeant Thandi Mbambo said police, municipal security, the fire brigade, home affairs, health services and building inspectors took part in the raid, between 02:00 and 05:00, on Wednesday.
"Drugs (cocaine) with a street value of R20 000 were found and 14 illegal immigrants were arrested and will appear in court soon."
Mbambo said the Park Road police station in the city had been experiencing various problems related to drug dealing and illegal immigrants at the building.
Police said other items that were confiscated were cellphones, a toy gun - sometimes used during robberies - and 10 blank cheques belonging to a legal firm in Bloemfontein.
