Johannesburg - Police on the West Rand cracked a drug-dealing syndicate on Tuesday when they arrested two of the most wanted drug smugglers, police spokesperson Superintendent Milica Bezuidenhout says.
She said the arrests followed intensive investigations by the SAPS's crime intelligence division.
The division infiltrated the syndicate and by Tuesday had sufficient information to arrest the two members.
The arrested men were known drug dealers and one of them was out on bail on drug charges, said Bezuidenhout.
A number of Mandrax tablets was found on the men when they were arrested.
The investigation was to be taken over by the West Rand organised crime unit and further arrests would follow soon, said Bezuidenhout.
