Johannesburg - A seven member gang of alleged armed robbers were arrested in Tembisa on Friday and would appear in court soon in connection with several armed robberies and attempted murder cases, North Rand police said on Saturday.
Superintendent Eugene Opperman said the gang was believed to be responsible for a number of such crimes in the Greater Tembisa and Ivory Park areas over the past two months.
One of the seven arrested was the son of a prominent business man in Tembisa, Opperman said, and was also on the police's 'most wanted' list.
Three stolen firearms were confiscated following the arrests and investigations were being conducted to determine whether they had been used in the commission of crimes, he said.
