Man killed by hippo

2008-07-13 18:08

Johannesburg - A man was killed by a hippo in Verulam, Kwazulu-Natal, the SABC reported on Sunday.

The incident apparently took place on Saturday night when the hippo attacked the man.

The man's wife contacted private security and police who rushed to the scene.

Earlier this month, KwaZulu-Natal wildlife authorities urged North Coast residents to stay clear of wandering hippos as they were "stressing them out".
