Johannesburg - A 22-year-old man claiming to be Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga's son, was arrested for drunken driving on Sunday morning, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
The man was driving a silver grey VW Polo, with seven occupants, when police stopped it in Leondale, Johannesburg east, spokesperson Mveli Nhlapo said.
"He told the police he was Motshekga's son, refused to co-operate and to give the police his details. Officers realised he was drunk and arrested him on the scene."
One of the passengers said his friend could not be arrested alone and demanded that he be taken too. The 24-year-old man was arrested for interfering with police on duty.
They were both expected to appear in the Alberton Magistrate's Court on Monday.
