Johannesburg - A fiancée of the one of the 62 South African alleged mercenaries said on Sunday that the first three men released by immigration officials at the Beit Bridge border post were "pale" and "not looking good".
"They are not looking good, I tell you. They look pale and tired and the atmosphere here is very emotional," said Karen, who was waiting for her fiancée Errol Harris to be released by immigration officials.
She said she had no idea how long they would have to wait for the rest of the group to come through.
Among those released are Kenneth Pain, whose wife has been waiting at the border since 22:00 on Saturday, and Raymond Archer.
SABC radio news reported that one of the men believed to be critically ill and suffering from tuberculosis had been taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
The 62 men were convicted last year of plotting to overthrow the government of the oil-rich Equatorial Guinea. They were held in Harare's Chikurubi maximum prison where they served their entire one-year sentence - and a few days - before being finally released on Saturday night.
