75 held for child rape

Mafikeng - The Mafikeng child protection unit had arrested 75 suspects charged with rape in the past four months, said North West police on Wednesday.
Inspector Khumiso Seketema said the cases involved the rape of children between the ages of six and 16.
These rapes took place in the Molopo area of the North West province.
Four people received life sentences in Mafikeng Supreme Court, and 18 people received between six and 16 years in prison for their involvement in rape.
Seketema said the rest of the suspects are currently awaiting trial.
